Threnodies are songs that can be used to reduce the resistance of enemies to particular elements. Ice Threnody, for instance, would reduce the resistance of an enemy against ice-based magic like Blizzard Spells, Distract, or Herculean Slash. The spells are however, the opposite element they lower resistance to. This means that Ice Threnody is Fire based.

• Only one Threnody can used at once, any additional Threnody will overwrite any other Threnody regardless of element.
• Tier I Threnodies: every Threnody +1 given through equipment increases song duration and potency by 10%.
• Tier II Threnodies: every Threnody +1 given through equipment increases song duration by 10% and gives an additional -5 Magic Evasion.
  • The maximum Threnody bonus available from equipment is +9.
• Soul Voice doubles the potency of this type of song.
• Marcato's effect on this type of song increases potency by 50%.
  • In the case of Fire Threnody II: This results in -307 Magic Evasion with +9 in Equipment Modifiers.
