*On at least some [[Notorious Monster]]s, Silence's duration is shortened by the casts that were resisted before it landed. Each resist adds one point to a hidden counter, and the cast that lands loses roughly 3.5% of its duration per point. The reduction is a subtraction rather than a multiplication, so a high enough count drives the duration to zero. The counter drains continuously at about one point per 70 seconds - not in one-resist steps - so the loss disappears entirely if casting stops for long enough. The counter is tracked per spell: resisted Sleeps do not shorten Silence. Tested over 35 measurements from 27 recorded fights (mean error 0.4%); see References.
